At Reid Bikes, we’ve always believed that cycling is about more than simply riding a bike. It’s about freedom, adventure, and connection - with the outdoors, with each other, and with our community. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce our new charity partnership with Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, a local charity making an extraordinary difference to children and families when they need it most.
About Julia's House
Julia's House provides specialist care for children with life-limiting conditions and support for their families across Dorset and Wiltshire, giving them all a chance to have the magical moments and memories every child and family deserves.
What makes Julia’s House unique is that their support isn’t limited to their two hospices in Dorset and Wiltshire. Their team of nurses and carers also visit children and families at home, offering flexible care that fits around the individual needs of each family. This could be medical support, respite care so parents can take a much-needed break, or activities and play sessions that allow children to simply enjoy being children.
They also extend their care to the whole family, recognising the huge strain on parents and siblings. Through counselling, sibling groups, and emotional support, Julia’s House helps families feel less alone on what can often be an overwhelming journey.
Why We’re Partnering with Julia’s House
At Reid, we’re passionate about helping people connect - with nature, with one another, and with causes that matter. When we learnt more about Julia’s House, it was clear their values aligned with ours. Just as cycling empowers people to feel free and supported, Julia’s House empowers families to navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges with compassion and care.
Unlike many national charities, Julia’s House depends heavily on local fundraising and partnerships to continue its vital work. That’s why we felt this partnership was such a meaningful way to give back to the community around us. By standing alongside Julia’s House, we can help ensure their services continue for years to come.
What's Happening Next
Our partnership officially begins this autumn with Run Bournemouth on 12 October 2025, where a team of Reid colleagues will take on the 10k and half marathon distances to raise awareness and funds for Julia’s House.
We’re also proud to join the Julia’s House Business Club, a network of local companies committed to providing ongoing support. Through this membership, we’ll contribute monthly to help the charity deliver consistent care for the children and families who rely on their services.
Caroline Attreed, Corporate Fundraiser at Julia’s House, said:
“We’re super excited to welcome Reid Bikes as a charity partner and a new member of our Business Club. Support from local companies is vital in helping us provide the specialist care that local children and families so urgently need. We’re especially excited that Reid Bikes will be taking part in Run Bournemouth – a fantastic way to kick-start their partnership with Julia’s House.”
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning of our journey with Julia’s House. We’re excited to bring our staff, customers, and wider cycling community together in support of such an important cause. Every mile ridden, every event hosted, and every pound raised will help Julia’s House continue to provide life-changing care for children and their families.
