THE NOT SO SMALL PRINT
Customers and riders
At Reid, we want to be completely transparent with the quality of our bikes. That’s why we offer a Lifetime Warranty on our frame and rigid steel and alloy forks. We’ve not made this text a thousand times smaller, or read aloud at really fast sound bite. We’ve made it big and clear so that you can be sure you of where you stand..
The Reid warranty applies only to the original owner of the product and is not transferable. The warranty covers riders up to 120kg on adult bikes which includes all models with a wheelsize of 26 inches and above. For scooters, hover products, water products and eScooters, please check weight limits on the product page on our website. This is typically 100kg or 120kg. Kids scooters are lower. If your item is faulty upon receipt or is not as described, your retailer should gladly exchange the item or refund your purchase. Items must be returned with their original packaging and, unless they were damaged prior to you receiving them, must still be in an undamaged, unused and saleable condition.
Improper assembly or maintenance may void your warranty. Consumable components such as tyres, tubes, brake shoes and cables are excluded from our express warranty. Shipping and labour charges are not included in this warranty. Reid will replace or repair at their discretion any frame found to be defective in materials or workmanship. Surface rust is not included in this warranty. Structural rust that may compromise the safety of the bike is included. However, if this has resulted from obvious neglect or mistreatment, you may void your warranty.
This warranty does not cover commercial use of any product supplied by Reid, whether a bike, scooter or any other item made by Reid. Where needed, replacements will be made with frames or products of current design that may not be exact duplicates of originally purchased goods. The frame model or item used for replacement will not be lower in value than the original frame. This warranty gives you specific rights in addition to other rights you may have. These rights may vary by country and/or state which the consumer has under the trade practices act and other state and territory laws.
Should anything feel loose or not right then please stop using your product immediately and get in contact with the retailer you purchased it from.
Our warranty is a ‘return to base’ warranty meaning that a customer must take the product which they believe to have a fault back to the place of purchase for evaluation and repair / replacement. If the product was purchased online and delivered, you will need to contact the retailer directly to discuss sending the product back for evaluation and repair / replacement. Reid Bikes Ltd are not responsible for transport or 3rd party labour costs.
DISTRIBUTORS
In addition to the above;
The warranty cover period starts from the date that a customer purchases the bike, but in the case of parts, where there is a time limit on warranty, the warranty from Reid is limited to this period PLUS one year from date of receipt of goods into your warehouse. For example, if you receipt a container of a model of bike into your warehouse in June 2022, and sell it to retailers who then buy it before June 2023, the full customer warranty period for parts (being one year for a customer) is covered by Reid. However, if the retailer does not sell the products until December 2023, which is one year and six months after you receipted the goods, Reid bikes will only cover the warranty period from the date you receipted the goods plus the warranty period and one year. So in this scenario, you as the distributor would be responsible for a part of this warranty period. This is because Reid cannot be held responsible if you hold products in your warehouse indefinitely, and then expect Reid to cover the warranty period for parts on those goods if you sell them five years later, as we may no longer carry the parts, or be able to source them.
For eMobility items such as eBikes and eScooters, please note that batteries MUST be periodically checked and charged every 6 months that they are in your possession unused, ie in your warehouse, for battery cell protection and to ensure the battery performs as expected for our customers. Any battery warranty claim will require proof of this if the battery is over 6 months old.
