This month, we’re heading across to Ireland to shine the spotlight on Cycle Superstore, the country’s largest dedicated bicycle retailer. With over 40 years of experience helping people get on two wheels, they’ve become a cornerstone of the cycling scene in Dublin and beyond. From first-time riders to lifelong racers, their mission is simple: to share the joy, freedom, and community that cycling brings.
We heard from the Cycle Superstore team about their four decades in the saddle, their role in shaping Ireland’s cycling culture, and the exciting new chapter they’re building with Reid.
Introduce yourselves...
We’re Cycle Superstore, Ireland’s largest dedicated bicycle retailer. We’ve been helping people get on bikes for over 40 years. From first-time riders to seasoned racers. Cycling isn’t just our business; it’s something the defines us.
Where can your store be found?
Our shop is in Tallaght, Dublin. We also have a full online store at www.cyclesuperstore.ie, serving customers nationwide.
What does cycling mean to you?
Cycling for us is freedom, health, and connection. It’s commuting without hassle, mornings exploring quiet roads, club spins with friends, or simply the joy of heading out on two wheels. It brings people together, keeps us fit, and lets us explore.
How do you integrate with your local community?
We work closely with local cycling clubs including the Tallaght Wheelers, our own cycling club. We run in-store workshops, sponsor races and charity rides, and support youth cycling. During the summer months our team regularly shows up for community events across Dublin. We see our role as more than selling bikes, it’s helping build a local cycling culture.
Do you have any interesting store stories you can share with us?
There are too many to pick just one! We get every kind of customer: kids buying their first bike, teenagers, commuters, serious cyclists, and people well into their 90s still going strong on club rides. We’ve heard all kinds of tales, from epic first rides to late-night fixes before big events. It’s a privilege being part of people’s cycling journeys.
How long have you been a Reid retailer?
We started stocking Reid bikes this year, working through Caratrade, the official Reid distributor for Ireland.
What is your best-selling Reid product?
The most popular models so far are the Sphere City Gents and Sphere City Ladies. They’ve been flying out the door. They offer a great mix of comfort, style and value. Exactly what many of our customers want.
How has your experience with Reid been?
Very positive. Reid bikes offer excellent value and quality, and even though we’ve only started stocking them recently, the response has been really encouraging. Customers have taken to the brand quickly, and it’s already exceeded our expectations.
Finally, what advice would you give to those who are considering getting into bike riding, or perhaps have never tried it before?
Go for it. Don’t worry about having the perfect gear or a top-spec bike. Start with something comfortable, take it easy, set small goals, and most importantly, enjoy it. Riding isn’t just about fitness - it’s about the experience. Whether it’s commuting, getting out at weekends, or trying something new, every ride counts.
