As we reach the end of 2023, it’s time to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had at Reid. From milestone achievements to office upgrades, 2023 has been a year filled with rewarding moments and remarkable growth.
Without further ado, let’s wrap up 2023 and dive into Reid’s highlights…
JANUARY
We kicked off 2023 with many exciting projects on the horizon. With a strong team at our HQ, we set our sights on the year ahead, defining clear goals to drive our progress. Amidst this planning, our HQ saw more international visitors in the first two months of 2023 than in the last two years. This was on the back of our eMobility 2023 range being shared.
January set the foundation for an ambitious and promising journey throughout the rest of the year.
FEBRUARY
We started February supporting our main US distributor, OSCO as they expanded their distribution, by exhibiting at CABDA Expo. CEO, Rob, and Head of Sales, Vincent proudly showcased our fresh 2023 range, including our sleek new eBikes. It was rewarding to hear such positive feedback on the new models. Building and nurturing these bonds is key to what we do, and CABDA Expo was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen those ties.
MARCH
March marked a significant milestone for us as we reached 200,000 trees being planted for every Reid product sold. This achievement was a true embodiment of our commitment to sustaining the environments we love to ride in.
March was also a month steeped in relationship-building initiatives, with a few team members going on some meaningful trips; Leon visited the Taipei Cycle Show in Taiwan, while Seonaid dedicated a month to visiting our China factories. Meanwhile, Rob jetted off to Australia to visit some of our supply contract accounts, and to spend time with our Reid Cycles Australian retail team.
This month also welcomed the arrival of various Commuter & Comfort models including the new and improved Transit range.
APRIL
April brought some big changes as Rob transitioned from Managing Director to CEO of Reid Group! We also welcomed Chris Bruges Cannon to the UK team as our new Product and Warranty Assistant.
On the other side of the world, our Philippines distributor showcased a range of our bikes at Pedal Up 2023, an awesome bike show in Manilla, Philippines. It was great to see how much everyone loved the bikes and merch!
As April drew to a close, the marketing team headed to a local forest for a photoshoot featuring our new eMTB bikes. This included our brand new full-suspension eBikes, the Sphinx range. The countdown to Eurobike was on and our planning was well underway!
MAY
In May, following our eMTB photoshoot in April, we proudly launched our latest eMTB lineup. We introduced the sleek and high-spec Quest range, E-Trail range, and the Sphinx full-suspension range.
Continuing our creative streak, we headed to Southampton for another photoshoot, this time focusing on our eCity range. The result? Fantastic lifestyle content showcasing our new eBikes in action. May truly was a month of fresh content. The Reid team over in Australia partnered with Naked Tan, a beauty brand who wanted our Ladies Classic Bikes in their campaigns. They captured some beautiful lifestyle content of our Ladies Classic Bikes!
JUNE
June marked the debut of our eCity range, featuring standout models like the Pulses and Blacktop range, designed to elevate urban commuting. Danni Palmer also joined us as our new Supply Chain Manager!
The month of Eurobike officially arrived and the entire team worked extremely hard to make it a success. We had a blast speaking to our clients, meeting new people and sharing our passion for everything Reid! It was great to show everyone our new products and get some important feedback so we can make them even better!
Adding to the excitement was the launch of our newest innovation—the KADe Fold eBike. Following the success of the KADe eCargo Bike at the previous Eurobike Show, this year was the perfect time to introduce this new addition to our lineup.
JULY
July began in the midst of our exciting summer giveaway series. We hosted 6 international giveaways in the United States, France, United Arab Emirates, The Philippines, and Lebanon, with thousands of people entering for the chance to win a Ladies Classic Bike.
We reached 100k followers on TikTok, which was a huge win for the Reid marketing team! This month also marked a new beginning as Hannah Hodgins joined us as our new Marketing Intern whilst on her placement year at Bournemouth University.
AUGUST
In August, we hosted our annual summer party, enjoying pizza on the beach! Bringing the whole team together to celebrate Reid’s accomplishments was a fantastic way to kick off the month. Jonny Green also joined the Reid HQ team as our new International Account Manager, bringing fresh perspectives and his passion for bikes to Reid.
SEPTEMBER
September saw Rob’s second visit to Australia this year. He visited two of our supply contract clients, as well as our own direct-to-consumer business. It was great for him to hear a lot of positivity about the state of the market with broad demand returning across all categories.
Excitement peaked as we launched our brand new 2024 bikes! This included a huge range of fresh, innovative products from high power eFat, to the opposite end of the scale; lightweight kids road bikes.
OCTOBER
Reid’s CEO, Rob & Commercial Manager, Jon headed to the United States for an exciting trip visiting retailers and clients. They also dedicated time to our main US distributor, OSCO. This gave them the opportunity to showcase our brand new 2024 range and, in the process, gain valuable insights into the US bike market.
Meanwhile the marketing team understood the assignment for Halloween and had a spooky Reid shoot. We captured some awesome lifestyle content to share not just across our socials, but also worldwide with our distributors.
NOVEMBER
In November, Reid’s Head of Supply Chain, Seonaid, went on a trip to Cambodia and Vietnam, visiting our factories and distributors. This hands-on approach is essential for Reid – it’s how we maintain strong relationships and ensure top-notch product quality.
On another front, we made a grand entrance back into the UK market, joining forces with Sweatband for an impressive launch. Starting with our iconic vintage range, this relaunch was an exciting moment for the team, since it’s where our HQ is based.
And speaking of our HQ, it had a huge upgrade in November! We moved into a larger, improved office space, and everyone was super excited to settle in.
DECEMBER
As the final month of the year came around, we partnered with ShipEarly in the United States to enable customers to buy products directly through our website, connecting them with a trusted retailer. This was a response to the growing demand from customers for an online sales channel which enables them to research and buy online.
The Reid team fully embraced the Christmas spirit this month! We had a Secret Santa gift exchange, rocked our Christmas jumpers, and topped it off with a merry Christmas party to celebrate all we have achieved this year. A local artist also popped into our new office to paint a mural on one of our walls, showcasing Reid’s entire journey from beginning until now. He did an incredible job at capturing Reid’s story through a creative timeline.
We hope you’ve enjoyed reading our recap of 2023. Here’s to all the milestones we’ve reached and everything we have to look forward to in 2024. Happy New Year everyone!
